I told her, and she said, "No, that's not it, that's this," and drew a circle in the air. I told her it was a different word, and spelled it for her, but I don't think she believed me.

I've spent a bit of the last week trying to imagine what a Russian's first impression would be upon arrival in America, and here is what I think they would see: a lot of underdressed, loud, smiling fools, flailing their arms about like they're in an aerobics class, nervously checking their watch and fidgeting, and yet despite all this physical activity they are still overweight. It would be quite overwhelming.
